Has Shopping become a thing of the past?

What Are People Really Buying Online?

Most people scour the internet to find the exact thing they are looking for rather than search through the mall's small selection

I found a Chart of what people are really buying online. this article was written by Patrick James for the site, good.is

Good to see people still like to buy drugs in person :P

I dont think i have enough patience or good enough eye site to make these tiny things look this good!

Fun Flags!

National Flags Never Tasted This Good

I found this fun Food take on National Flags. this was inspiring for me to re-create symbols and signs we already know and recognize. I am inspired to re-invent different things like this example.

To celebrate the Sydney International Food Festival, the flags of participating countries were recreated using popular local foods from each nation.

this cannot be real!

Incredible Pictures Formed by Thousands of US Soldiers

Astounding photographs taken by photographers Arthur S. Mole and John D. Thomas. These photos display tens of thousands of American soldiers posing as symbols of American history.

Holi 2010

Last Monday (March 1st), people in India and other countries with large Hindu populations celebrated Holi, the Festival of Colors. A welcoming of Spring, Holi is celebrated as the triumph of good over evil. Hindu devotees and others enthusiastically drop their inhibitions, and chase each other in temples and through the streets, playfully splashing colorful paint, powder and water on each other.

The colors are s beautiful I could search for these images all day long. Beautiful celebration of spring and COLOR!

I found this on Boston.com By stumbling upon it

This must have taken forever! There are three videos linked to the article I read. But there are 14 in total. BLU, the artist, has a very bold statement to get out.

Muto
Berlin
Evolution of men

This is very impressive because his works cover a large area. His art work is Interesting and kind of on the gruesome side...

I want this bed!

High-Tech Bed Has Built-In TV, Computer & Game Systems

I found this on Dornob also. I hate my bed at school and I cannot wait to move out to have a larger bed! This bed looks amazing!!! Hi-Can (high fidelity canopy) really reminds me of what apple's version of a luxury bed would be! check out the video.

Designed by Italian Edoardo Carlino

If I had this bed I dont think I would ever leave it!

12 Complex 3D Sculptures Cut from Single Sheets of Paper

I love paper sculptures! I found these great sculptures on Dornob

So Cute and Detailed!! Of the 187 billion pounds of paper produced on our planet every year, how many are used this creatively? A distinctly modern variant of classic origami art, these three-dimensional works rise up from the page as if the paper were coming alive – animated shapes, scenes and figures carved crisply from generic white paper stock.
The sheets themselves are technically blank (canvasses, if you will) from which Peter Callesen cuts his storybook forms, bent upward and back in on one another – both liberated but also still tied to the page from whence they came.

Solar Flower Petal Street Lamps Bloom by Day, Illuminate the Night

Another GREAT article from Inhabitat.

These have got to be one of the best nature inspired lamps ever!

Smart design meets city lights in these solar-powered LED street lights by Phillips. Inspired by how flowers open up to the sun to collect the sun’s energy, the Sustainable City Lights feature photovoltaic petals that open during the day to collect the sun’s rays and transform them into energy. Then at night, the light closes and LED lights turn on to brighten city streets.

These Self-sustaining lamps would help create the energy they use! Perfect cycle!!

Stunning Green Roofed Apartment Building Rises in Amsterdam

I heard of this website from a friend in class called Inhabitat
Inhabitat.com is a weblog devoted to the future of design, tracking the innovations in technology, practices and materials that are pushing architecture and home design towards a smarter and more sustainable future.

Inhabitat was started by NYC designer Jill Fehrenbacher as a forum in which to investigate emerging trends in product, interior and architectural design. Mike Chino is the Managing Editor; Emily Pilloton, Olivia Chen, Evelyn Lee, Abigail Doan, Yuka Yoneda and Jorge Chapa are Senior Editors. The site was designed by Jill Fehrenbacher and runs off the fabulous blogging platform Wordpress.

They have a wonderful website for a great cause.

I found this wonderful eco-friendly green-roofed apartment building in Amsterdam. I think this is a beautiful building and a wonderful idea!
Construction was recently finished on this stunning green-roofed apartment building in Amsterdam, and residents will soon be able to move into their stunning new light filled apartments. Designed by NL Architects, Blok K is located between the historic center and the recently redeveloped harbor area in the east. The building contains 10 apartments and is part of a masterplan for the area, which will include 500 dwellings and a park by Frits van Dongen and de Architecten Cie.

VERY SMART!

Clever uses for Stickers!

I found these great sticker advertisements under Inspiration on Toxel.com!
They are fun and definitely noticeable! This struck me as a whole new way to create a WOW factor using graphic design and good ole sticky paper.

This is my favorite from the Malaysia Airlines tray tables. designed by Ogilvy & Mather Agency Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Ad is for...

Golden Holidays consist of Malaysia Airlines packages that target the domestic market with attractive prices (flight + accomodation). The task was to cross-sell the packages to current passengers debunking the perception that traveling with Malaysia Airlines is expensive. Stickers were placed onto the pull-down meal tray on-board selected Malaysia Airlines domestic flights making the captive audience “feel” their next holiday.

Smart Idea!

NOT ALL ARTISTS ARE STARVING event

Last night was the networking night for the Art department. I had a great time an really enjoyed listening to everything the artists had to say. I felt the setting was very nice and I enjoyed the set of questions asked. I enjoyed the variety of artists. I picked up on some important information directly from the experienced artists! I truly felt this was a very important event. Now I feel have a better understanding for what lies ahead of me and how to deal with it.
I really felt the message they were sending was,
  • take every opportunity and you will gain so many different experiences from that one step.
  • Believe in yourself,
  • take on challenges.
  • Record all artworks, Projects, exhibitions.
  • You are in charge of YOU!
I was especially inspired by Amy Dresser. I love her artwork. ALSO She is from Maine! That is where i am from! Its always great to hear about someone from your home state make it big! Seeing her and how happy she doing what she loves, it really gave me hope for myself nd confidence that I have a great opportunity ahead of me and I have to be ready to take on the challenge!

It took 222 shirts and one fire extinguisher to make.

These guys Rett & Link created this 3 min stop animation video using the t-shirts. I love this! its nice to see the old school way of stop animation!

SkaTe AnD dEsTroY!

I stumbled upon this great web site based in Australia.

Established nearly 25-years ago, Desktop is a respected (but still playful!) industry leader in all above-mentioned communication avenues, covering news, events, profiles, inspirations, technical processes, challenges, products and services and in a vast array of creative fields including print, photography, animation, fashion, typography, packaging, digital media, web design, post-production, illustration, gaming design and more.

I found this fantastic art made out of old skate boards! I think these are beautiful pieces and are Recycled material!

The Artist, Haroshi, created this for the HARVEST Project in Tokyo

"A refreshing take on eco and recycled artwork, the HARVEST project showcased a selection of the collective’s work throughout the years, following a philosphy to embrace sustainability through finding new applications for used possessions."

Excellent idea and execution!
